Welcome to the New 1.20.1 Modded FOSO SMP Server!

The server is entering a new era with its own Traveling Taverns update, projected to be a mainstay of the server going forward!

Your admin and moderator team have been hard at work assembling a light but transformative modpack for you. The goal of this modpack is to create an experience that is not only fresh and new, but that also feels like it could have always been part of Minecraft vanilla. The included mods were hand-picked to run harmoniously together while meeting the varied interests of our playerbase.

How to Play

To play on a modded server, you need a modded client. We'll be using Fabric for 1.20.1, so go to https://fabricmc.net/use/installer/to find the download, and then follow the tutorial at https://fabricmc.net/wiki/install to install it. You'll know you've done everything right when a new version option appears on your launcher.

The Modpack

Download

You're halfway done, but don't launch yet! You'll need a copy of all the server's mods, too. Download the compressed file from the above link and extract it. Inside is a collection of .jar files you'll need to move into your mods folder, the location of which is ~/.minecraft/mods/. If you don't know where that is on your computer, you can access the folder by launching Minecraft, going to "Options", then "Resource Packs...", then "Open Packs Folder". This will open %AppData%/Roaming/.minecraft/resourcepacks/. Simply back out to .minecraft from there, and then open your mods folder.

When you're done, it should look something like this, though it's okay if the exact mods differ:

Final Setup

By default, several of the mods use the same key bindings, and whenever that's the case none of the functions bound to the same key will work. But not to worry, Minecraft makes this problem easy to identify and resolve. Once you've launched the game, open up "Options", "Controls", and then "Key Binds...". Here, duplicate keys will show bright red. Simply remap one of the double-upped keys to a new key of your preference, and you're good to go! If you're ever uncertain of which key to map a function to, pick a random temporary key and remap it later once you know more about that function. You can always reset your key binds to their default if you don't like your decision.
